Cholesterol is an essential building block of every cell in the body, required for all metabolic processes. It is particularly important in the production of nerve tissue, bile and certain hormones. On average, our body produces about half of a gram to one gram of cholesterol per day, depending on how much of it the body needs at the time. By and large, our body is able to produce 400 times more cholesterol per day than what we would obtain from eating 3,5 ounces (100 grams) of butter. The main cholesterol producers are the liver and the small intestine, in that order. Normally, they are able to release cholesterol directly into the blood stream, where it is instantly tied to blood proteins. These proteins, which are called lipoproteins, are in charge of transporting the cholesterol to its numerous destinations. There are three main types of lipoproteins in charge of transporting cholesterol: Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL), and High Density Lipoprotein (HDL).

In comparison to HDL, which has been privileged with the name ‘good’ cholesterol, LDL and VLDL are relatively large cholesterol molecules; in fact, they are the richest in cholesterol. There is good reason for their large size. Unlike their smaller cousin, which easily passes through blood vessel walls, the LDL and VLDL versions of cholesterol are meant to take a different pathway; they leave the blood stream in the liver.

The blood vessels supplying the liver have a very different structure from the ones supplying other parts of the body. They are known as sinusoids. Their unique, grid-like structure permits the liver cells to receive the entire blood content, including the large cholesterol molecules. The liver cells rebuild the cholesterol and excrete it along with bile into the intestines. Once the cholesterol enters the intestines, it combines with fats, is absorbed by the lymph and enters the blood, in that order. Gallstones in the bile ducts of the liver inhibit the bile flow and partially, or even fully, block the cholesterol’s escape route. Due to back-up pressure on the liver cells, bile production drops. Typically, a healthy liver produces over a quart of bile per day. When the major bile ducts are blocked, barely a cup of bile, or even less, will find its way to the intestines. This prevents much of the VLDL and LDL cholesterol from being excreted with the bile.

Gallstones in the liver bile ducts distort the structural framework of the liver lobules, which damages and congests the sinusoids. Deposits of excessive protein also close the grid holes of these blood vessels (see the discussion of this subject in the previous section). Whereas the ‘good’ cholesterol HDL has small enough molecules to leave the bloodstream through ordinary capillaries, the larger LDL and VLDL molecules are more or less trapped in the blood. The result is that LDL and VLDL concentrations begin to rise in the blood to levels that seem potentially harmful to the body. Yet even this scenario is merely part of the body’s survival attempts. It needs the extra cholesterol to patch up the increasing number of cracks and wounds that are formed as a result of the accumulation of excessive protein in the blood vessel walls. Eventually, though, the life-saving cholesterol begins to occlude the blood vessels and cut off the oxygen supply to the heart.

In addition to this complication, reduced bile flow impairs the digestion of food, particularly fats. Therefore, there is not enough cholesterol made available to the cells of the body and their basic metabolic processes. Since the liver cells no longer receive sufficient amounts of LDL and VLDL molecules, they (the liver cells) assume that the blood is deficient in these types of cholesterol. This stimulates the liver cells to increase the production of cholesterol, further raising the levels of LDL and VLDL cholesterol in the blood. The ‘bad’ cholesterol is trapped in the circulatory system because its escape routes, the bile ducts and the liver sinusoids, are blocked or damaged. The capillary network and arteries attach as much of the ‘bad’ cholesterol to their walls as they possibly can. Consequently, the arteries become rigid and hard.

Coronary heart disease, regardless of whether it is caused by smoking, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, overeating protein foods, stress, or any other factor, usually does not occur unless gallstones have impacted the bile ducts of the liver. Removing gallstones from the liver and gallbladder can not only prevent a heart attack or stroke, but also reverse coronary heart disease and heart muscle damage. The body’s response to stressful situations becomes less damaging, and cholesterol levels begin to normalize as the distorted and damaged liver lobules are regenerated. Cholesterol-lowering drugs don’t do that. They artificially reduce blood cholesterol, which coerces the liver to produce even more cholesterol. But when extra cholesterol is passed into the bile ducts, it remains in its crystalline state (versus soluble state) and, thereby, turns into gallstones. People who regularly use cholesterol-lowering drugs usually develop an excessively large number of gallstones. This sets them up for major side effects, including cancer and heart disease.

Cholesterol is essential for normal functioning of the immune system, particularly for the body’s response to the millions of cancer cells that every person makes in his body each day. For all the health problems associated with cholesterol, this important substance is not something we should try to eliminate from our bodies. Cholesterol does far more good than harm. The harm is generally symptomatic of other problems. I wish to emphasize, once again, that ‘bad’ cholesterol only attaches itself to the walls of arteries to avert immediate heart trouble, not to create it. This is confirmed by the fact that cholesterol never attaches itself to the walls of veins. When a doctor tests your cholesterol levels, he takes the blood sample from a vein, not from an artery. Although blood flow is much slower in veins than in arteries, cholesterol should obstruct veins much more readily than arteries, but it never does. There simply is no need for that. Why? Because there are no abrasions and tears in the lining of the vein that require patching up. Cholesterol only affixes itself to arteries in order to coat and cover up the abrasions and protect the underlying tissue like a waterproof bandage. Veins do not absorb proteins in their basements membranes like capillaries and arteries do and, therefore, are not prone to this type of injury.

‘Bad’ cholesterol saves lives; it does not take lives. LDL allows the blood to flow through injured blood vessels without causing a life-endangering situation. The theory of high LDL being a principal cause of coronary heart disease is not only unproved and unscientific. It has misled the population to believe that cholesterol is an enemy that has to be fought and destroyed at all costs. Human studies have not shown a cause-and-effect relationship between cholesterol and heart disease. The hundreds of studies so far conducted on such a relationship have only shown that there is a statistical correlation between the two. And there should be, because if there were no ‘bad’ cholesterol molecules attaching themselves to injured arteries we would have millions of more deaths from heart attack than we already have. On the other hand, dozens of conclusive studies have shown that risk of heart disease increases significantly in people whose HDL levels decrease. Elevated LDL cholesterol is not a cause of heart disease; rather, it is a consequence of an unbalanced liver and congested, dehydrated circulatory system.

If your doctor has told you that lowering your cholesterol with medical drugs protects you against heart attacks, you have been grossly misled. The #1 prescribed cholesterol-lowering medicine is Lipitor. I suggest that you read the following warning statement, issued on the official Lipitor web site: “LIPITOR (atorvastatin calcium) tablets is a prescription drug used with diet to lower cholesterol. LIPITOR is not for everyone, including those with liver disease or possible liver problems, and women who are nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant. LIPITOR has not been shown to prevent heart disease or heart attacks.”

“If you take LIPITOR, tell your doctor about any unusual muscle pain or weakness. This could be a sign of serious side effects. It is important to tell your doctor about any medications you are currently taking to avoid possible serious drug interactions…” My question is, “Why risk a person’s health or life by giving him/her a drug that has no effect, whatsoever, in preventing the problem for which it is being prescribed?” The reason why the lowering of cholesterol levels cannot prevent heart disease is because cholesterol does not cause heart disease.

The most important issue is how efficiently a person’s body uses cholesterol and other fats. The body’s ability to digest, process and utilize these fats depends on how clear and unobstructed the bile ducts of the liver are. When bile flow is unrestricted and balanced, both the LDL and HDL levels are balanced as well. Therefore, keeping the bile ducts open is the best prevention of coronary heart disease.

Price Of Gas - How To Manage
Gas Prices are getting out of hand, this is Just a fact. The real question is, how can we manage with this change in our lives? I have a full size truck, and a sports car my wife drives and in our world, just like many of yours driving is a way of life making gas a necessity. I talked to friend, family and others around town, they all agree gas prices are an important issue to them. Many went on about the high prices and why they were to high but no one took a look or expressed how it was going to change their life. So is the high gas price just something we don’t want to see and are upset about. Or is it something that is changing our lifestyle causing us stresses in other areas of life. What I did is took a step back and looked at the whole situation you will be surprised at what I found I also found ways we can manage with the increasing gas prices for it doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon.Being gas is a necessity in our every day lives weather we drive or not. Yes gas still affects you even if you don’t drive. Think about it if you eat food you most likely are affected by gas prices. Ok you still don’t see it. Well the food you eat is Delivered to the place you buy it from, via trucks, trains, and or ships that use tons of gas. Not to think of the fuel used to process it and package the product. Yes food Prices are going up and its not just because of inflation. Oil/ Gas price spikes are contributing to the over all incease in most good you buy. The more I looked into it, the more I seen how it effect society at large. You know bread 2yrs ago was $1.25 now it is $250 what will it be next yr? They are planning to start making gas out of corn so the price of corn will go up we may be telling our future kids how we use to eat corn it wasn’t always a form of fuel. Well when corn becomes the new cash crop what do you think many wheat farmers will do? Yes start growing corn with less wheat being grown the price of bread will sky rocket. The Good Book talks about a time when a full days wage will only buy a loaf of bread. It is not that bad, yet but I can see event on the arisen that could take it there. What can we do about it? How can we manage with this could be crises? Now we know the price of gas may get out of hand what can we do about it.As far as things we can do to effect the price of gas is minimal. I got an email the other day to not buy gas from the leading pump stations on a certain day. I followed along and the next day after the boycott gas prices were higher. They know we are going to buy it sooner or later and increased the price to make up for the loss the day before, maybe. Really the boycott didn’t have an impact at all. The variables behind gas prices are beyond are control if you think different send me a note I would love to hear your view. Its not all bad though we can manage this crises that what I want to share with you.Take for Example: If you are on a budget when one thing becomes higher you have two choices, to stop using the product or reduce the use of it. The other is to take the money from another item you buy. Being the consumption of gas is not being reduced most of us are taking the money from other want or needs. Yes many are tightening the belt per say but with the cost of food and everything else going up due to the cost of oil/gas spiking some are not able to make ends meet.Another thing we can do it make more money. The little raise your job may give you will not cover the real cost of living spike. I know many can’t or don’t have the energy and time to find another job. That why many are turning to doing a little on the side. Some turn to working at home or some networking business. If you have tried it before you may have realized it wasn’t nice. You had to call all your friend try to get them to join you or buy products, you many have had to call people that didn’t know you, getting way to many rejections. This is not what you want after working all day. Well welcome to the new age yes many are making money online, with out making one phone call. There are so many ways it can be done, you can look into a few but realize not all are good you have to do your research I spent over $7000 in the wrong ones some will take you to the cleaner see other article I have written that go into detail or visit my site for free advice. Having a good home base business on the web has so many advantages most of all no one has to know what you are doing. Yes you don’t have to sell your friend and family. When your friend see you with the extra money they will want to know what you are doing and join. There are even way you can make money online even if no one ever joins your business. When you have a steady stream of extra money coming in from a online venture you don’t have to worry about gas or any other increase in the economy. So it is up to you even if the effect of the gas prices is not effecting you yet, will it? You can tighten your belt but having a source of residual income can change your life.

Where Are Heating Oil Prices Headed?
Heating oil prices are increasing slowly, they are becoming more obvious as time goes by, and the prices will continue to go up and up until the fuels needed are burnt up. We need these fuels to produce heat and warmth in our homes, so where are heating oil prices headed? I will be discussing where I think that heat oil prices will be going as well as what we may have to turn to when there is no longer any natural resources left to use.Heating oil prices are on the rise and the direct cause of this is the consumption of fossil fuels and natural resources to create the electricity and power required to generate the heat for our homes. As the years go by it is most probable that these prices will rise until we run out of oil. But even though there is oil coming from eastern countries, there will eventually be a shortage and even a shut down of the oil which is being drawn from underground. Oil is becoming more and more valuable each day as it runs out and it is pointless to conserve it because eventually we will have to switch to a renewable source of energy such as wind power or hydro power. The changes are already happening, but will it be enough to meet the current population’s demands? It is unknown, at the current rate of growth we can expect the population to grow and grow, this means more demands for fuel, and these fossil fuels are likely to run out at a faster rate as the years go by. The damage is done and the heating oil prices will continue to rise. There are a few ways that can keep a house warm without the use of a boiler or an electric heater, you could get more layers built on the outside of your house to keep warmth in, however it is essential that your house gets a fresh supply of air every so often throughout the day. If you allow the air to go stale it creates smells and can make the atmosphere inside the house quite unpleasant, this is why it is essential to get a regular supply of fresh air coming in whilst letting the stale air leave the house. But the bad side is that by letting in fresh air you are essentially letting in cold air which will make your house cold, this would also require opening and closing of windows which can be a real inconvenience, especially when we are trying to get on with our day to day routine. But at the end of the day it might as well be worth it considering the rise in heat oil prices, why not heat your own home for free with this method, but you’ll need some spare time on your hands. Our homes need heat to keep up warm, especially during the winter season, of course it varies from country to country but warmth is essential to our survival and it is important that we survive. By the looks of current heating oil prices it is expected that the prices will continue to rise and rise until we run down what natural resources we have left. It is up to us to find a new source of energy to keep our homes warm so that we can survive.

Predicting Crude Oil Future’s
The future of crude oil is uncertain as of now, there are many different directions and outcomes, however there is a most likely scenario which we can discuss. I will be discussing what I think the future of crude oil will be and what effects it will have on the world. But before going into that I am going to discuss what will happen leading up to my predicaments. As the years go by I think that we can expect to see a rise in the price of crude oil, based on the current situation of crude oil prices I think that we will see a big increase as crude oil slowly runs out. I think that crude oil will become so valuable due to its rarity that it will become a very expensive fuel, so much that people don’t even bother buying the fuel due to the price. I believe that this will eventually lead to a lack of use of cars. I think that many people will seek another source of fuel to run their vehicles, whether it be electric cars or green energy cars. With crude oil becoming so expensive we can expect less people to use it, this should hopefully failsafe and work nicely because if people turn to green energy cars and electric cars we can hopefully see the marker in that particular area improve drastically. This is the main problem currently, more people are happy to drive to work using regular fuel, but when this fuel runs out I think that it is safe to assume that green energy will be able to support the downfall of crude oil.Once all the crude oil is gone we will most likely have learnt our lesson, I believe that many people will have turned to green energy and this will be good because it will allow the green energy market to grow and expand. This will hopefully encourage more products and research put into this technology, simply because it will be worth it and it can generate money. I believe that given time we will have an opportunity to change our ways using this green technology. However if we make the make some wrong decisions it is possible that we could blow our chances of change, however I do believe that if we apply everything correctly we can achieve the goals. But in order for all of this to succeed we need everyone to contribute and put in an effort to make change. We have gotten used to our lazy lifestyles and many of us need to learn that we can change things if we put in the effort. The future of crude oil could be bright, and it could be dull, it is based on the opportunities we take, if we make any wrong decisions it could in effect throw us off course and right back to where we started. The future of crude oil is dull, but by ridding ourselves of crude oil we are allowing a window of opportunity to arise. It’s up to us to make the right decisions.

Natural Gas Origins
Natural gas is one of the world’s most important fossil fuels. The denotation of “fossil fuel” comes from the belief that most scientists share, that natural gas and other “fossil fuels” were formed from the remains of tiny sea animals and plants that perished 200-400 million years ago. Scientists believe that when these tiny organisms died, they sank to the bottom of the ocean, where over many years, the pressure created by the ever-thickening layers of ocean floor combined with the earth’s heat to change the molecular structure of the organic remains into deposits of petroleum and natural gas.Natural gas only occurs in the areas of the earth where this built up pressure and volcanic heat combine to produce the necessary chemical reaction for production. Geologists are able to locate natural gas deposits by studying the types of rock and formations that usually occur where gas is present. Raw natural gas is a mixture of gases whose main ingredient, methane, is a natural occurring compound formed when plant and animal matter decays. It is odorless, colorless, and tasteless, so companies like Triple Diamond Energy Corp add a chemical with a sulfuric smell like rotten eggs so that leaks can be detected quickly, otherwise the volatile fuel leaking could rapidly lead to dangerous situations within the home or industrial environments.Ancient peoples of the world from China to Greece were curious of the fires that were created when lightning struck natural gas seepages and were ignited. Often times, temples or shrines were built around these seepages so that the mystically occurring fires could be worshipped. The earliest recorded instances of drilling for natural gas comes from ancient China. The Chinese, in their search for salt wells, pioneered a technology of driving bamboo poles into the earth to depths of up to a kilometer.Often this drilling for brine pierced deeply buried natural gas reservoirs and was captured and stored in barrels to be burned as fuel. This fuel was burned to evaporate the water from the brine leaving only the salt intact. In America, natural gas was first used to light the streets of Baltimore in 1816. It was shortly after this, that a man named William Hart dug the first natural gas well in Fredonia, New York, in 1821. The nation’s first natural gas company, the Fredonia Gas Light Company opened for business in 1858, marking only the beginning of the soon to spread usage throughout America that has resulted in natural gas accounting for about a quarter of the energy used in America every year.

Alchemy was, and still is, the most controversial way of cognition of this World. The ideas of transmutation of lead into gold, philosopher’s stone, elixir of life and others, blamed by modern science as “charlatanry”, seem to be dead long-ago, but In October 2007, for the first time in the past 500 years, the International Alchemy Conference gathered at Las Vegas, USA. Is the ancient art reviving, and who were those great people whose names are firmly connected with alchemic craft?

1. Sir Isaac Newton
“The last of mages”, as he was called by John Meynard Caynes. One of the most brilliant intellects ever, Sir Newton was a keen follower of Alchemy and its ideas, which lead, as many researchers put it, to discovery of the Law of Gravity. Experimenting with mercury and sulfur, he also made a composition for reflecting mirror surface of reflection telescope thus letting Humanity look deeper into the Space.

2. Goethe
Great German poet, he was obsessed with idea of philosopher’s stone. Many years of alchemic experiments worked in the end, but in some different way: they resulted in Goethe’s immortal Faust, an ode to alchemy, human passions and infinite strive for cognition.

3. Alessandro Cagliostro (Giuseppe Balsamo)
Born on Sicily, this man traveled all over Europe. His unusual personality magically attracted people’s souls and, which was more important, their money. Rumors went that he was able to materialize gold and diamonds from nowhere, and even could raise from the dead. There is not documentary evidence of his achievements in pure alchemy, but results of his studies of human soul outlived him and gave birth to what will be much later called “practical psychology”.

4. Giacomo Casanova
Rarely can we meet such person, name of whom awakes so many associations and used as both swearing and praise. Allegedly the greatest lover of all times, he was undoubtedly a gifted philosopher, physicist and psychologist of a kind. Many admit that his numerous feats of love would be impossible without some little alchemic tricks.

5. Henry Cavendish
He was a man who, unaware of it, erected a gravestone on the tomb of alchemy with his discoveries of pure hydrogen and a reaction of the latter with oxygen, resulting in water. He also was the first to define the gas composition of air. His achievements in science were so remarkable, that some contemporary of his wrote that his human appearance was only a mask, inside of which was something not human after all.

6. Avicenna (Abu Ali al-Husein Abdallah ibn Sina)
There are not so many people in this small World who would experience as much as this person had. Being a bright philosopher and mathematician, he’s mainly known to us as a brilliant physician, whose Canon on Medicine is still one of cornerstones of this science. Cures and medicines he collected and invented are numerous and their origin is believed by many to be supernatural, obtained from somewhere above, not without a help of magic forces of alchemy.

7. Paracelsus (Wilhelm Bombast von Hohenheim)
If some alien civilization ever made an inventory of intelligence on Planet Earth, they should have put the name of Paracelsus somewhere close to Hyppocratus and Galen in the “Greatest doctors” column. Being one of the first “chemists” out of alchemists, Paracelsus discovered lots of remedies for that time incurable diseases. He is one of the founding fathers of toxicology, and his saying “Dose makes poison” is learned by all medical students nowadays.

8. Count St. Germain
If all impostors, alive or dead, had gathered in one place, formed a Guild and elected its Chairman, that would be Count St. Germain. This person allegedly was able to communicate with spirits, cured pearls and transmuted silver into gold. Many believe that he was only an impersonation of some supernatural power, descending to our world from time to time to select prophets and grant them with secret knowledge. He is also claimed to assist George Washington and Benjamin Franklin in establishing the United States as an independent country. In fact, hes an author of numerous tracts and treatises on alchemy and is still considered one of Great Masters of that craft.

9. Roger Bacon
Greatest of Franciscans, Roger Bacon paved the way for many alchemists with his Opus Majus and Opus Minus tracts, in which he anticipated a lot of scientific achievements we attribute to 20-th century, e.g. Einsteinian Relativity Theory.

10. Tyho Brahe
Tyho Brahe was one of the most celebrated astronomers and philosophers of all times: his tools for calculation of planetary movement are still not yet surpassed in accuracy. Name of Tyho is given to two craters: one on Moon and one on Mars. Besides astronomy, he showed a lively interest in medicine and alchemy in what concerned the influence of metals to human body. He was said to have made a prosthetic nose for himself from gold and silver, which were blended in a way resembling color of human flesh, and an adhesive balm to keep that in place.
